Phil here. I gots a question for y'alls. Sooooooo I'm a senior in high school and getting ready to start this whole college OMGIMGOINGTOSHOOTMYSELFOHGODWHY kinda stuff, and in that category is filing for housing arrangements. Now, I'm one of those FTM kinda guys. I try to live by a man name, prefer man pronouns and such, but (quite obviously in fact) have a female body. Now I'm wondering, you lovely friends o' mine, what should I do about the whole "college housing" thing? They require us to live on campus for the first year (it's Missouri State University I'm talkin here, if that helps at all.....), and I don't really know if I should file for a male's dorm or a female's dorm. Most are in the same building, just different floors. If I were in a dude dorm that'd match my mental state, but not my current body. And I'm WAAAAY too broke to even consider transition until far later on when I can save monies. But if I were in a girl dorm, even though it matched my vajayjay and chesticles, my girlfriend (who I'd hopefully be rooming with) and all my going-to-same-school buddies calling me Phil and using he/him/and such would probably cause a stir. I'm kinda stuck here, and I don't know who to ask. I would have cross-posted to more fitting communities but I don't really know of any, so if you could aid there as well it'd be highly appreciated. This may be the product of my not sleeping worth a damn for the past two nights, but I swear it makes sense in my head. Sooo... yeah. Help. XD |

Photo of a friend and I with our SAWEET hats. If I could rationalize a need for this hat, I would buy it in a heartbeat. ( They asked us to work there... )

Has anyone experienced hair loss a few months after starting HRT? I have some thinning going on the top of my head and hair line. I don't know if it's the adjustment to hormones, but of course it's very discerning to me. Any thoughts?

Hi :D my name is Charlotte. I'm 19, and I live in Portland, OR. I love it here, but next year I will be moving to Eugene to go to school. Currently I'm attending PCC, which is nice, but I want more. Not sure what else to say about me. I love meeting new people, and don't really update my livejournal that much. I am single. And I have my birly moments but I'm mostly a birl admirer. Here I am. ![]() ( there's more )

"My neighbor, Sally, recently and unexpectedly died. She lived alone and had 2 cats--nice cats, but used to a quiet home, no kids, no other pets. They are around 10+ years old. She was your typical "cat lady". They are clean and healthy, never go outside. We are not 100% sure if they are caught up on shots--still trying to find the vet. records. Their names are Gus and Ethel-M. :) If you know of anyone willing to give these cats a good home, they really it. They are in her house still, looking for their "person" to show back up. Feel free to forward this email on to others you think can help us out. Beth Hawker (I'm just forwarding this on to a larger audience. Please contact Beth) |

Hey Madisonians. My friend's mom, who has lived in Madison for as long as I've been alive at least, has gone missing. If you all could keep an eye out for her, it would be really wonderful. Here's what she sent me: Pamela Clyde (aka Sydney) was last seen on the night of november 6th. she lives on the east side of Madison, near pedro's. She is 5ft tall, 109 pounds, short black hair and brown eyes. Keys, car and cell phone were left at home, but she had a large black handbag. She is not taking her prescribed medications. ANY INFORMATION PLEASE CALL THE POLICE 608 266 4275 There's also a news article here, with a picture but not any more information. Thanks for reading, and please keep my friend in your thoughts if you don't mind. This is really hard on her, on top of an already shitty year. |

So I bought a flippy couch (like a futon but more couchy) and I need to pick it up from the place and then haul off my old box spring and mattress and possibly my old loveseat (depends on if I can get that into the other room or not). None of them are in donation-worthy condition so it'd just be to the dump. I may also be getting a chaise (it is the most fantastic thing my ass has ever touched.. i swear). So does anyone have a truck and a couple hours? I can pay you for your time and that'd be awesome. I think the couch is about 130 pounds and I can help shift it, I'm on the first floor, there are no steps and we can pull to within about 10 feet of my back door so it's nothing terribly stressful. Thanks, Hivemind! |

On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice. Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials. We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait! As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work. |

My boyfriends desperation for a job has him begging me to post for him every Wednesday. Cute, huh? Anyway heres what he's done before: customer service, car service, u-haul coordination, manufacturing, testing of small parts to ensure quality for a laser company, troubleshooting equipment for the same company. He's looking for really anything at this point. It has to pay somewhere between $12-13/hour at least so he can pay his bills and some place that is pretty decent to work for... his last boss was insane. Let me know ANYTHING you've got, even if it has no relation to what is listed there. He's got some other work experience that I haven't listed. Any ideas for places to check are appreciated too. Thanks so much everyone. |

My 15-year-old sister really wants to see Owl City at the Majestic but it's sold out. Anyone have any ideas for getting a ticket for her? You can be on the guest list for any Screamin' Cyn Cyn and the Pons show you want, if that's your sort of thing, in return. |

Alright guys. You might laugh at me for posing this question, it'll probably point out how I lack certain worldly experiences that most have already encountered... But that is why I am asking for the advice.... ( Here, it gets complicated...(possible nsfw discussion) )

Nice to see the community is still going strong. All new faces to me, but pleasant ones at that. I'm sure no one here remembers me, it's been years since I posted, but on the off chance you do, I re-joined the Army a year ago, and am currently stationed in Fort Carson, which I swear has the smallest queer community Ive seen in my life. Can't wait to get back to the bois in Seattle. That's about all I have to say bout that. Nice to meetcha... again. ~Bree |

Does anyone have any suggestions for books/websites on base training? In a couple weeks I want to start some sort of a training plan for myself in preparation for the 2010 Collegiate road season and I'd like to get more specific advice other than to ride my bike a lot. Thanks :)
